Portland communities are leaders in green energy usage

PGE reported that four of our Portland communities have claimed spots in the Top 10 Green Power Community Challenge presented by the Environmental Protection Agency.  Based on the number of customers using renewable power, four Oregon cities achieved high rankings in the national challenge.  Hillsboro took second – Portland took third - Gresham took sixth – and Beaverton took 8th in the nation – the Top 10 Green Power Communities are based on annual green power usage (kilowatt hours.)  Other Top 10 cities included: Washington DC in first - Santa Clara, CA in fourth – Corvallis, OR in fifth – Bellingham, WA in seventh – Palo Alto, CA in ninth – and Rockville, MD in tenth place.  (Information obtained from PGE, November 2011.)
